Marshall/Meixuan Wang is an independent graphic designer and a new-media artist based in Brooklyn.

As a graphic designer, she works with local merchandises and artists, creating brand experience that forge connections and shift cultures. She sees thoughtful design as a sensory experience that enhances community and amplifies brand’s impact.

As a new-media artist, She’s inbetween system, aesthetics, simulacra, and the reality we nest in.
Her works explore the lacunae and precariousness of digitality, and searching dissonant chorus in the natural and constructed world through moving images.

Marshall is currently working as a freelance designer. Previously she worked at MIT Media Lab and Kinestry. Marshall also co-founded Sequence, a New-York based art collective exploring gesture of care through indie-publishing and design goods.

Atlas of Life

Atlas of Life is a 3-minute graphic essay that investigates the intersection between the living and the non-living from a metaphysical and speculative perspective. It explores the potentiality of life and its expansion over time. By weaving elements of storytelling, creative writing, experimental sound design, image making, animation, AIGC, typography, and filmmaking, this graphic short embraces a fusion of digital production and traditional analog techniques. The short is an outwardly-oriented invitation, asking the audience to join the collective entity of "us" as we traverse through time and transcend into a grander existence, a new embodiment of life.

1. The original essay was inspired by Nora Khan's lecture, The Artificial and the Real, where she discusses the blurring boundaries between artificial systems and human perception, questioning how these developments affect our concepts of authenticity and existence. 2. Sound of this film was made with Kalimba, an Africa instrument. The sound was first recorded analogly later composed digitally on Protools.
